Squadron 42 has an official Steam presence: App ID 4045720, live since September 10, 2026 — the 14th anniversary of the game's announcement. Right now the page supports one action: adding the game to your wishlist. You cannot buy it, pre-order it, or download anything from it yet. Store state verified: 2026-10-12.
Add Squadron 42 to your wishlist
- Open the official Steam store page.
- Sign in to your Steam account and select Add to your wishlist.
- Optionally enable notifications so Steam pings you when the game launches.
That is the entire process — it is free, reversible, and commits you to nothing. When Squadron 42 launches in its planned Q2 2027 window, wishlisting means Steam will notify you and the game will appear in your library's release feed.
What the store page tells us
The Steam listing is also the game's official fact sheet. As of the last check it confirms:
- Release status: "Coming soon" — planned release date Q2 2027. No user reviews yet (the game is unreleased).
- Platform: Windows PC. The minimum spec lists Windows 11 specifically; there are no macOS, Linux, or console entries anywhere on the page.
- Features: Single-player, Steam Achievements, Steam Cloud, HDR support, Family Sharing, and full controller support for Xbox and PlayStation pads.
- Account linking: The game requires a Roberts Space Industries account, which can be linked to your Steam account — consistent with CIG selling the game through its own ecosystem as well.
- Languages: 10 interface and subtitle languages including Simplified Chinese, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Korean. English is the only language with full audio support.
Wishlist vs pre-order
A wishlist is not a pre-order. No money changes hands, nothing is reserved, and there is no purchase agreement. It is a notification tool — and the only official pre-launch action that exists. Because no price has been announced and no pre-order channel is open, be skeptical of any site claiming otherwise; our buying guide covers how purchasing will actually work at launch.
Why there is no demo on the page
Steam pages for games with public demos carry a "Download Demo" entry; Squadron 42's does not. The official playable-feeling material is video-only — the 2024 gameplay reveal and the 2017 Vertical Slice — both covered in our demo and gameplay guides. October 2026 hands-on sessions were invite-only.
Store page facts checked 2026-10-12 against the listing and the Steam appdetails API. Features and languages can change before launch.
