No price for Squadron 42 has been announced. As of 2026-10-12, the Steam page shows no price and no purchase button — the Steam API confirms no pricing data exists for App ID 4045720 — and Cloud Imperium's own pledge store sells no Squadron 42 package. Anyone quoting a specific price is guessing.
The only official price figures in the game's history
There is exactly one pricing statement CIG has ever published, and it is over a decade old. When Squadron 42 and Star Citizen pledge packages split into separate products on February 14, 2016, CIG wrote:
"The base price for either an Aurora starter package (with the persistent universe) or the Squadron 42 single player campaign will be $45. If you would like to add one or the other... it will be a $15 addon. (These prices are not final, and are subject to change with future promotions.)"
Two things matter about that quote: it is from 2016, and CIG explicitly labeled it non-final. Treat it as historical context, not a price point. There is no indication whether launch pricing will resemble it.
What the rumors are worth
- Community predictions ($40–$70 across Reddit threads) are fan guesses. They have no source and no status.
- Third-party resale listings — shops selling old pledge packages that include Squadron 42 access at prices like $129.99 — are resales of collector packages from the pre-2016 era, not official pricing. Buying them means buying a decade-old bundle on someone else's terms; our buying guide explains the official alternative.
How you'll actually find out the price
When CIG announces pricing, it will appear simultaneously in the places you already look:
- The Steam page — a purchase section replaces the wishlist call-to-action.
- Official RSI channels — the website and newsletters.
- Press coverage on launch-adjacent dates, which we track in the news roundup.
The practical move today: wishlist the game so Steam notifies you when the store page goes live in the planned Q2 2027 window.
Price absence verified 2026-10-12 against the Steam listing, its API, and the RSI pledge store. This page carries its check date for a reason — pricing news will age it.
