The Aegis Idris is the signature capital ship of Squadron 42: a UEE Navy frigate that serves as the player's home through much of the campaign. Specifically, you serve aboard the UEES Stanton — hull code FF-436 — an Idris-M attached to the 5th Fleet's 87th Battle Group under Captain Noah White (played by Liam Cunningham). Variants: the Idris-M (military, with the spinal mass driver) and the Idris-P (civilian "Peacekeeper," no standard spinal gun but upgradeable). In Star Citizen — the multiplayer sibling game — the Idris is a rare, pack-gated capital ship; in Squadron 42 it is simply where you live.

From corvette to frigate: the 2014 rework

The Idris has its own development story that mirrors the game's. Chris Roberts' team originally designed it as a corvette (by concept artist Ryan Church), but when Foundry 42 whiteboxed the interior for Squadron 42's first missions, the hull couldn't fit the Hornets the story required — plus a repair tender and medical facilities for the FPS sections. The official Idris Revamp announcement (March 28, 2014) documented the result: the ship grew about a hundred meters and was reclassified as a frigate. Existing backers who owned an Idris corvette kept it — as a frigate.

Life aboard the Stanton

The Stanton is where Squadron 42's crew-focused storytelling happens. Documented crew include Executive Officer Sophia Kelly, flight instructor Steve "Old Man" Colton (Mark Hamill), chief mechanic Cara "Web" Webster (Sophie Wu), and others — each with personalities and storylines in the campaign's social layer. The ship's lore runs deep in official fiction: sealed in 2872, transferred to the 87th Battle Group in 2935, with disaster-relief and border-patrol history.

Note: the CitizenCon 2954 gameplay reveal takes place aboard a different ship — UEES Gauntlet, a Javelin-class destroyer — during the Battle of Vega II. The Stanton and Gauntlet are distinct ships in the campaign.

One more caveat from the community wiki: the Idris's current stats (in Star Citizen) may not match its final Squadron 42 release version — CIG continues tuning. Use the figures above as the official reference, not a promise.
